For more than half a century, Anderson Humane has been a place of refuge and second chances for thousands of animals and the people who love them. A one-of-a-kind animal welfare organization, Anderson Humane (formerly Anderson Animal Shelter and Fox Valley Wildlife Center) focuses on creating and supporting mutually beneficial relationships between people and animals.
Plans for a state-of-the-art humane complex are underway with a $40 million campaign soon to launch to support the building of a comprehensive campus in Elburn IL. Construction on the new campus will begin in 2023. It is scheduled to open by 2026, and will have facilities for wildlife rehabilitation, an adoption center, state of the art veterinary facilities, an equine center, event space, welcome center, and administrative offices.
Anderson Humane seeks an engaging, organized, goal-oriented and proactive fundraiser to join the team. Ideal candidates will be entrepreneurial and collaborative with experience working and building strong connections with various stakeholders, supporters and community members. The Director of Development Outreach will work in partnership with the Senior Director of Development and Chief Development Officer (CDO) to create new and cultivate existing relationships with supporters wishing to invest in Anderson Humane’s mission and vision.

Some requirements for this role include:
- Passion for the human animal bond and animal welfare.
· A minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in development; 2 or more years managing a portfolio of donors and prospects.
· Experience in donor management including identifying prospects, tracking donors, contributions, and communications.
· Proven ability to build strong external relationships with a variety of volunteers, public leadership, partner organizations and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated record of securing 5 figure gifts.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent successful fundraising experience including solicitation with an aptitude for working in the non-profit field.

The Director of Development Outreach position offers a salary range between $80,000 and $95,000 and a full benefits package.

Anderson Humane is committed to care that includes all animals, including wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, housing, and care education for “little critters” (rabbits, turtles, etc.), resources for parrots and other pet birds, and horse rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption.
