    Position Summary:

    To advance the agency’s mission, as well as agency recognition within the community, by coordinating the agency’s outreach goals to both increase awareness and access of Centro’s programs and services. This is done primarily by coordinating Centro’s presence at community events, education seminars across all Centro office locations and taking leadership for special community events. This position requires a proactive, sales-oriented individual with excellent communication skills and a passion for helping the Latino and immigrant community. The person in this position is a member of the agency's program leadership team and reports to the Director for Operations and Community Engagement.

    Centro de Información is a 501c3 non-profit organization with offices in Elgin, Carpentersville and Hanover Park. The mission of Centro de Información is empowering the Latino and immigrant community to integrate effectively. Centro provides immigration and naturalization services, employment aid, an emergency food pantry, educational seminars, public benefits outreach and advocacy and more. Centro has been serving in the community since 1972 and serves over 7,000 clients each year.

    Each office location (Elgin main office, 240 Standish Elgin, Carpentersville and Hanover Park) is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

    Duties / Functions:

    • Responsible for implementing the agency’s community outreach strategy, which is developed by the agency’s leadership team. This strategy will ensure the agency's maximum participation in a wide range of area events to help meet program outreach goals, strengthen Centro’s strategic partnerships and increase financial supporters. This responsibility also includes monitoring, successful completion and evaluation of all community outreach efforts on a regular basis.  

    • In coordination with program team leaders, organize weekly educational seminars addressing a wide variety of subjects to establish a steady flow of clients growing in their knowledge and skillset that empower them to integrate effectively. 

    • Assist program staff assistants with outreach attendee data so as to keep client service data current on a regular basis. 

    • Assist with the recruitment and involvement of community volunteers to participate in agency events that will advance the mission of the organization.

    • Respond to clients at outreach events with appropriate and relevant referrals and information.

    • Maintain all outreach event details on Outreach Team calendar.

    • Assist in the staffing of information tables at community events, occasionally held evenings and weekends. 

    • Coordinate special events at various Centro’s office locations. 

    • Assume other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s preferred. 

    • Minimum of two years of non-profit organization leadership experience required. 

    • Proficient in MS Office programs

    • Strong organizational and communication skills, in particular, writing and public speaking.

    • Bilingual Spanish/English and bicultural including understanding of the immigrant experience and obstacles due to language barriers, legal status, and poverty.

    • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse number of audiences including community leaders, volunteers, and staff.

    • Ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

    • Event planning experience preferred. 

    • A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

    • Must have your own transportation. 

    • Occasional lifting of agency materials up to 50 pounds. 


    Starting Salary: $52,000 - $58,000 per year based on experience

    • Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm office hours 

    • Evenings and weekends as needed

    Work Location: 

    This is an in-person position to be housed at Centro’s new office location at 240 Standish Street, Elgin, but will travel to all Centro office locations and across the northwestern suburbs to support outreach events.
