Organizational Overview:
Since being founded locally in 1985, Make-A-Wish Illinois has granted more than 15,000 wishes and continues its mission to share the power of a wish with children in all 102 counties across the state.
A wish can be a game-changer for a child with a critical illness. This belief guides us in everything we do at Make-A-Wish. It inspires us to grant life-changing wishes for children going through so much.
Life-changing wish journeys are made possible by dedicated staff and volunteers who fulfill the work of our mission, helping children discover, create, fulfill and experience the lasting impact of their most heartfelt wish.
Job Summary:
Significantly grow mid-level, annual fund giving by qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospective and existing individual relationships. Energetically manage a portfolio of individuals who give $1,000 - $9,999 annually.
Major Responsibilities:
- Enthusiastically qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward annual fund, mid-level individuals in a portfolio of 275+ prospects and donors
- Achieve annual financial leadership goals and performance metrics, including general and substantive actions with individuals (averaging 8 – 10 contacts/day) and in-person visits (60 – 80+/year)
- Creatively work with individual donors to fulfill their interest in giving, increasing their connection to and engagement with the Make-A-Wish mission
- Learn and embrace the working structure between Make-A-Wish America and the Illinois Chapter, and benefit from partnership opportunities with peers throughout the MAW enterprise
- Engage current Make-A-Wish volunteers and friends to develop donor relationships
- Represent and travel to all regions of the state to proactively prospect and engage with donors at fundraising events, meetings, and activities
- Utilize and maintain database system and processes to plan, track, and prioritize prospect/donor activity
- Staff and support the implementation of donor engagement opportunities at events (including Wish Ball, Make-A-Wish Illinois' black-tie gala), wishes, and through stewardship
- Perform other duties as required or assigned
Requirements
- Self-motivated
- Drive to achieve and surpass goals
- Proven record of relationship building and successful gift solicitations
- Organized and detail oriented
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and customer relationship management (CRM) systems
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 2 or more years individual fundraising experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
