Meet Our Speakers:


Kate Bousum, CFRE
Vice President of Philanthropy, Aspire

Kate is a dedicated fundraising professional with over 20 years of experience across higher education, social services, and nonprofit sectors. Kate currently serves as the Vice President for Philanthropy at Aspire, an organization that connects adults with disabilities to greater possibilities through learning, jobs, and safe places to call home. In this role, Kate leads the dynamic philanthropy team, fostering a culture of philanthropy and building strong relationships to achieve the organization’s philanthropic goals and inspire communities where people of all abilities live, learn, and work together.  

A passionate advocate for the nonprofit sector, Kate is actively involved with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP Chicago), West Suburban Philanthropic Network (WSPN), Grant Professionals Association, the DuPage Foundation Next Generation Initiative, and the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce. Kate has been a mentor with the Three Pillars - Elmhurst Student Philanthropic Council for 3 years, volunteers with the newly formed 100 Women Who Care Prairie Path, and volunteers more than she should. 

Beyond her professional role, Kate provides fundraising consulting for small and mid-sized nonprofits, helping to increase their philanthropic impact and improve donor engagement. She holds a degree in Communications/ Public Relations from Purdue University and earned her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential in 2017. Kate’s contributions to the field have been recognized with several honors, including the Benjamin Franklin Award from AFP Chicago in 2022 for her career achievements, the 2024 WSPN President’s Award, and the Under 40 Leadership Award from the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce in 2018.
