Program Description:
Gather virtually with fellow nonprofit professionals to share the complexities of running giving day campaigns.
Giving-day events are a great opportunity to share stories of impact, engage donors in the mission of your organization and raise the funds that are vital to the sustainability of your programs. Hear from three industry professionals that have had experience in starting, maintaining, and/or running giving day campaigns.
Some of the information shared will include case examples of how to:
- Generate matching funds,
- Utilize board members to personally connect with donors,
- Incorporate storytelling to highlight those who benefit from the organization's services, and
- Rally support through peer-to-peer fundraising.

Meet our Presenters:
Ben Bingle, Director, DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership
Dr. Ben Bingle is the Director of the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership—a nonprofit capacity building program of the DeKalb County Community Foundation. Ben has over 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector leading local, statewide, and federal initiatives; designing and evaluating programs; raising funds; and directing large scale contract-based research. He has 18 peer-reviewed publications focused on the effectiveness of nonprofit and governmental institutions. Ben earned a bachelor’s degree from Monmouth College, a Master of Public Administration from Drake University, and a doctorate from Northern Illinois University. Give DeKalb County has run a successful giving day since 2014, raising over $6.8M for local nonprofit organizations.
Licia Green, Director of Development, CCHAT Sacramento
Licia Green has worked in development for nearly 14 years and currently serves as the Development Director of the CCHAT Center Sacramento, an agency that serves children with hearing loss. Her family’s experiences with CCHAT programs informed her approach to storytelling and dedication to educating donors about the outcomes that are possible for children who are deaf and hard of hearing. As part of this effort, Licia has led and grown CCHAT’s giving day campaign. Since 2015, CCHAT’s giving day campaigns have generated $270,000 in unrestricted funds and welcomed more than 250 new donors into the CCHAT community. The last three years, the campaign has raised on average, $46,000 – a 31% increase since the first event. Licia believes that giving-day events present a great opportunity to share stories of impact, engage donors in the mission of an organization and raise the funds that are vital to the sustainability of your programs. Shefali Trivedi, Nonprofit and Social Impact Leader
Shefali Trivedi is the former Executive Director of Giving DuPage, the DuPage County Volunteer Center. She has a 33-year career in marketing, sales and project management as well as a background of working in government and the nonprofit sector for 18 years. Her nonprofit experience includes working for one of the largest food banks in the country, Greater Chicago Food Depository, as well as an environmental education center. Her service career extended to government as she worked on countywide environmental initiatives in DuPage County and as Executive Director of Giving DuPage until January 2023.
